help me!!!
Right going back to my clutch slave adapter...... Have been round quite a few fabricators in the area and the best price i can get for it is £60.
Tried insisting its not for production but just for my car and they wont budge. Anyone know where i can get something like this done for a better
price. preferably within driving distance of south bucks.
cheers

Doesn't sound too bad to me.
If I was a skilled lathe operator with overheads to pay I'd want at least £60 for an hours work.
Cheers

Hmmmm..
What material are you looking for?
Ally?
Steel?
Unobtainium?
Try asking after a local trade school.
I could make it, but I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic.

what is it meant to do? surely it can be redesigned to be cheaper/easier to make?
how come you are the first person to require this part?

The problem is if its just a one off, they need to set the machines up just for a one off so it works out expensive, if you did a run of 10 say it
would work out a lot less.
I went to a few places to try and get some gear remotes mate up for the type 9 box, had some interest on here so was going to go for a run of 10, they
quoted me £2000 for the batch. And £500 for a one off!!!! Westfield sell them for £80 so i politely said no!

Doesn't the local tech have a model engineering club using the machine shop?
Or try your local secondary school metalwork teacher.
A local rowing club here had parts cast and machined at the local secondary school.
Hope this helps.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Quite honestly thats about what I'd charge you if I were to do the job.
Youre looking at at least an hours work plus materials.
In ally thats close on £10 alone.
Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want!!!

in aluminium, its the adapter for my saab concentric clutch slave to fit into my toyota t50 gearbox.
Hmm you do all seem to be in agreement that £60 is a fair price. ill think about it.

If your having something made up as a one off 60 quids nothing. Especially if it gets it done and gets it done well.

dunno what you have exactly but I have hydraulic clutch in my Land Rover. I suspect it is bery similar and would be like a master sylinder but work
in reverse.
So the business end will be like this?
primary piston stuck
A piston to push a rod, and since in you ddrawing I do not see any thred so I am guessing the slave bolts to the gear box?
Providing you can keep the slave in the rigt place, you don't necessarily need a fancy con centric jobbie?
can you not wled something onto the gear box? Ir drill and tap the gearbos and make some adpater out of angle iron?
Can you take a photo of the slave and the gearbox part that it is to sit in?
Can a different slave be used?
I assume toyota gearbox i cable? If not, why not use the toyota slave?
Sorry if I'm talking carp but I do not have info. describing the problem but reckon there has to be another easiere/chepaer DIY way.
(for 60+ quid, you could probal;by get a different gearbox?)
