Gear lever extension
I have been using a Westfield gear lever extension for a while now and to be honest the change is not as good as it could be. I have looked at
modifying to connect the extension rod directly to the selector shaft with a roll pin but I don't have access to a lathe on a regular basis. Then
I thought about just welding a lever in parallel to the standard one like the picture below. Any reason why it wouldn't work ? The lever
won't be any higher in the tunnel than it was. Will it affect the throw etc ?

you will be effectively making the lever longer which will increase the throw.
However you can get some (if not all) of this back by making yourself a quick shift as in Dave Andrews article:

But I have a feeling you have already seen this........

You will probably have difficulty in selecting reverse.

I butchered this one a while back to allow a 3 inch move forward of the box. Then converted another spare gear lever by bending the shaft using
oxyacetoline and and did Dave Andrews quick shift mod. Still OK for getting reverse but much more bend and it would get difficult.

Check out the remote gear lever set up on David Jenkins site . Precise gearchange with quickshift , correct reverse stop , reversing lights work
correctly and locost. Mine cost just 92p Would put in link if I knew how

thanks for the replies
I hadn't thought about the reverse thing. I think the way to go is probably modifying the westfield remote to match the way David Jenkins
attaches his gear selector (with roll pins). But like I said I don't have regular access to a lathe, however I know a local bloke with one who
may help.
