Camshaft questions....
I have a few questions, bare with me!
I have a 1600 pinto engine that has had the crankshaft and flywheel balanced and lightened....
1. The current camshaft is stamped "Ford H33"....Is this a standard camshaft?
2. Should I be considering a different cam (or adjustable pulley) to go with the lighter bottom end?
3.The camshaft looks a little worn to me...there are some areas which have been polished down by the rockers...see photos....is this normal?

Pass.

Standard 2L Pinto cam will be better than a standard 1.6L one. A Piper 285 would be even better but you might want to have the head ported and
polished to get real benifits. No point fitting a pulley unless your head/block has been skimmed or you're using a non-standard cam.

Doesn't even look run-in to me! Looks like a new cam.

The marks on the cam lobe do not look as I would like it to look. The base of the lobe next to it doesnt seem to have any wear marks on it. Makes me
think it is a new cam. Has the lift of each lobe been checked?

How do you measure the lift of each lobe and what does it tell you?

The bottom photo definatley shows signs of wear on the right hand side..
if you adjust your clearances and it quietens down then great, if not either a standard one or a 2ltr cam will do the trick as it will have slightly
more lift and duraiton, depending of course what you are trying to acheive.

That looks like a cam that's hardly done any work. When they wear you can feel the groove where the lobe runs on the follower and it's
amazing how worn they get and still keep running  If you want to spend some momey get a 2.0ltr cam but otherwise run that one.
