The Polo 1.0ltr is a good choice. They are about £40 new, so not worth risking fitting a s/h one. My car has never overheated since finished (3 years)
with this rad fitted, even in traffic in the summer so should be up to the job.

The escort MK2 rad does though fit

It's possible that the turbo engine may require a better than average radiator - perhaps you should be looking at some sort of special ally
super cooling multicored custom made expensive thing

The mk1/2 escort one will fit for sure but as ns dev said the micra like the polo rad is proven with higher powered engines.
Anyway i was looking in your archive and saw the picture of the rad fitment, the rad is not in the nose cone and i was wondering if this was affecting
the ram of air into it.
I'm thinking maybe its in this possition so as to fit an intercooler in the nose.

i think i could just make better use of the spare space i have as my rad is quite small, and my engine gets really hat fast, fan cools it down but
still would sooner keep it cooler

that is good though, innit? You want the engine to get up to operating temp. as fast as possbile, but once there, shift any excess heat out using the
water radiator/fans.
If you were having trouble keeping the temperature at design levels, then you should be worried.
