R1 bike carbs on Pinto throttle cable
I couldn't use the standard throttle arrangement due to the cable contacting my bonnet so I made this bracket up to hold the cable under the
carbs instead:-

keep us posted, im thinking about bike carbs on my pinto, but dont know where to begin, running twin 40's at the mo
I love Pinto's, even if i did get mine from P&O!

The bracket looks nice. Its going to be a neat conversion.
What did you use for the cable? Is there an outer?
Have you connected the choke up? Same Q. How are you mounting the ither end to the dash? Ive seen one fitted to a steering column height adjuster but
i dont have one of those.

Hi, I am deffo going to go the same route as Andy with the bike carb setup from Bogg Bros.
What I would be interested in is what ignition setup it needs.
I am intending to put my old sierra loom in however the ecu on it seems to have lots of connections into the old carb.
How has anyone else doing it.

Chuck any Sierra ECUs and loom. Get a dizzy off a 1.6 Pinto with the 6 wire ignition module and make a loom up from scratch.
This is what I've done.
Now the bike carbs are fitted I'm going to mod the dizzy to remove the vacuum advance and alter the advance curve a bit. I'll keep you
posted on this.
The other option is a Megajolt but as I already have the above setup wired in I don't want to go pulling my loom apart.

Thought this might be the answer, I was hoping to get away with using the Sierra loom.
I am thinking of getting a premier wiring loom. Would this be suitable for this setup?
Also as well as the loom what else do I need for the electrics which doesnt come with the loom?
I am assuming a fuse box doesn't come with the loom.
What is a suitable choice for dizzy?

I built my loom from scratch. Bought a few rolls of wire from Maplins and a lot of spade/receptical connected and worked through it over a weekend.
It was hard work but I think it's turned out far neater than using the Sierra loom.
In addition to the wire I bought a fuse box, some warning lights and some switches from SVC.
Dizzy wise I'm using the 2-wire electronic type fitted to 1.6L Pinto Sierra's. You could use a points dizzy from a Sierra or Aldon/Burton
and that would be a little simpler. However, I think the advantages of the electronic ignition are worth the extra wires. And it's only six
anyway. 2 to the coil, 2 to the dizzy and power is pretty much it.
P.S. notice you're in Brum. You can come and take a look at mine if you like. Otherwise when I have my new engine in in a couple of weeks I
don't mind coming to you. Will need to put 500 miles on it asap so I can start thrashing it

Why remove the vacuum advance? It will spoil fuel economy if you don't have it.

Vacuum advance won't work properly when running 1 choke per cylinder.

I junked all of the Sierra loom inc ignition switch and column switch gear. Used premier loom which came with fuse boxes and relay bases. Savage
switches and DD2 pro. Used the 2 wire dizzy and 6 wire amplifier - both brand new (soon to be sold).
Im fitting ZZR1100 carbs and non-Boggs manifold (far more cost effective). Will be ripping out electronic ignition to fit Megajolt (im a techno junkie
and love the idea of connecting the car to a lap top!!) It all seems too easy to be true at the mo.
Andy - id be interested to get some more details of your carb cables please.

Hi Darren,
I would be interested in the dizzy and ignition if you are selling it on. Let us know if and when.
Also if you start looking at the megajolt I would be interested, maybe start up a new thread when you start looking at it, unfortunately I am not at
that point yet but as I am planning the electrics it would be nice to go down that route from the start.
