froggy,

Yeah - you mentioned the P6 manifolds - any chance of some pics and rough dimensions (ie how far out from block they come) and let me know what you'll want for them (I'm near Tunbridge Wells if you need to find out postage), though I'm toying with the idea of making manifolds from butt weld pipe.

Let's see what's cheapest

I posted this yesterday - 2 P6s locally, though I don't know what engines (if any!) are in them.

Hell Simon ,

that looks like it will let the bugger breath (or should that be fed ). makes my westfield plenum looking like F3 intake restictor.

Have any of you V8 boys thought about running the plenum insulation plate shown in PPC i know mine suffers from heat transfer.

Keep us posted with progress

How come you have made it with inlets on both sides as opposed to the Rover twin plenum which had them both on the same side?

Looks good though!

Andy,

Got to mirror polish it next, which I'm not looking forward to

Simon / Froggy,

IMHO you will be wasting time with P6 manifolds (assuming they are standard cast iron ones).

You've spent all that time & effort virtually doubling your intake, so you will need to make some decent headers to get it out the other end.

Check the Hardcastle book, but I think the only half decent cast manifolds are much later ones (twin secondaries, etc). Apart from Range Rover / LRV8, P6s were the least powerful production Rover, so I don't think the manifolds can be too good.

heres the pics, the manifolds are 170mm deep to the outlet flange measured from the outer edge of the bolt holes and stick out about 80mm from port face to the outer edge of the downpipe flange

Froggy,

They look grand Let me know what you want for them, incl postage (via U2U if required).

TL - They may not be the best flowing, but they are the right shape (and similar to what I would make anyway - dictated by space). I'm sure someone could confirm or otherwise that n/a flow is different to forced induction requirements.

Re the book - is it any good. Just been reading review on amazon, and they're quite mixed. If you say it's ok, I may order meself a copy

I'm not going to be able to get to Stoneleigh

I'll order a copy of the book - that quote you gave was the exact same argument I used on someone t'other day - thanks for offer though.

If you find out a postage cost and U2U me your address, I'll get as cheque/p.o. off to you.

Cheers

Froggy,

I hadn't realised that you were turboing (I should have read the "chargecooler" reference and your "one turbo each side" reply - that would have been a bit of a give away. Must learn to read proper)

Anyway, you're absolutely right. I don't know the specifics, but header shape isn't nearly as important on charged engines. Sorry for ever doubting you!

Cheers,

Terry

Just had to post -

Froggy, thanks for the manifolds - arrived at work on Saturday, addressed to

Mr Turbo Nutter, most amusing

Anyway, got a bit bored today, and had a spare half hour, so did some mocking up.

Still waiting for my flanges to be cut, but you get the idea.
