Crossflow on Bike Carbs
Hi I am looking to convert a crossflow to run on bike carbs, has anyone done this and where did you get the inlet manifold, what did it cost, which
carbs did you use and why also finally have you any pics available

Im planning to use a Bosch external type pump from a Vx Carlton, Just need to decide whether to feed from a seperate swirl pot or build one into the
existing fuel tank.
I used 1.5mm wall exhaust tubing and 10mm plate .

Thanks for that, impressive stuff, I'm thinking of R6 carbs...38mm but does anyone know if they have a TPS as standard??

I'll have a look at my R6 ones tomorrow when I go to the garage , and let you know.
I'll measure them as well as I thought they were slightly smaller than 38mm

I've been thinking of putting some bike carbs or possibly throttle bodies on my crossflow ,I have a weber manifold that I was thinking of
using. Looking at weber carb set ups it appears that 34mm choke would be the ones to use . I suspect that 34mm bike carbs or TBs would be the size to
use? Too big would cause problems because of low air speed without any gain in top end

yep that sounds right to me as well, I measured the carbs i have and the choke size is 36.4mm, so maybe a tadge over size but, I'm sure i can
live with it, maybe I'll just have to rebore the block to make it suit the carbs !!

If going the carb route, choke size is an issue. With throttle bodies less so, as the speed of the fuel is more down to the pressure at the
injectors.

(also thinking of an injected crossflow)

If I am right bike CV carbs have variable venturi (in form of vacuum operated slides). So just pick a set that can deliver the amount of fuel your
engine needs (most common are R1, Blackbird and other big bike carbs). My blackbird carbs on my 2.0L zetec seem to deliver the goods. I chose them
because they had a throttle pot attached I could match up to my existing 3D ignition system.

Forgot to add earlier, the carbs I hope to use have a 3 pin plug bit at one end which lines up with the butterflies, I'm guessing this would be
for a throttle position sensor

i managed to get my Mum's renault 19 running on bike carbs. The plan is to fit them to a nova but i don't have an engine yet and i'm
impatient : ). Would be challenging to set them up without a rolling road though.

Does she know anything about this?
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a
car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes
and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it.

She did when she started it hahaha. Only messing car was scrap yard fodder anyway. Still have no nova, cos i got an mk2 xr2 instead! I'm
thinking 2 liter zvh conversion on bike carbs. No i am not a boy racer!
