Zetec Phase 3 Install

Just fitted my ST170 engine and type 9 into a Luego Velocity chassis but the oil filter seems to be in the way of the steering downlink. The st170 engine is a phase 3 zetec. Has anyone had the same problem? I am also going to fit a pace dry sump but there doesn't look to be enough room to get the pump in when attached to the side of the sump. The exhaust side mount seems to be too far forward. I have used the Luego supplied Zetec engine mounts. Any pictures of a successfull install would be good. I am going to try to use the st170 inlet but will have to cut out and move the brace that is above the brake master cylinders due to the fact that there is not enough clearance. Has anyone done this also.

If you put a smaller oil filter on will the steering shaft miss it or is just too close? Rescued attachment zetec oil filte renault.jpg

Another idea is to fit a remote filter and move the filter elsewhere,or maybe a link/joint in the steering shaft.

Ideally the best option would be to move the engine back 6"s,but like myself this is probably not an option.

If no luck try plan B and call Luego after all they did take your cash and i presume they said you could fit the engine

I've been told the filter is a renault 5 gtl or turbo among other renaults.

apart from the wix part number in the picture here some some others that should match.

FRAM PH2874
CROSSLAND 659
COOPERS 107X

Hope this helps

You say that the short filter fits! Are you using the cooling jacket on the oil filter housing also. I have one on the ST170 engine but not sure if the black top engine also has one.

thanks

fit a uprated gearbox mount (westfield part),needs slight mod to fit chassis or a bracket but makes gearbox/engine install more solid.
