1.8cvh sump on Zetec?
I'm seeing lots of stuff saying the 1.8CVH sump and pickup pipe fit onto a silver top Zetec, since I maybe changing from 1.8CVh to Zetec this
sounds too good to be true , has anyone seen it done?

IIRC you do need to modify the sump im sure you need to drill extra holes in the sump for bolts

With a bit of fettling, yes - it will fit. (The zetec is a development of the CVH block.)
The fettling you'll need to do is with a grinder at the end where the oil pump is - the 2 are slightly different here.

' cos it was there really , the CVH has and continues to serve me well, goes quite nicely now, so I'm not in a panic to do
it................but it was part of a long term plan that if the Megajolt and bike carbs worked out they could be moved over to a Zetec quite easily
................also the starter motor and maybe the sump can be used....................... that's an up yours for the ol' 1.8 CVH
bashers!!!!!

i dont understand.
if your fitting a zetec, why would you want to swap the sumps over anyway?
Is there anything that passes under the engine, or is it that its too low???

The Zetec is usually fitted across the car, front wheel drive, between the front wheels, in a locost it will be fitted like the cvh/x/flow/pinto
engined cars, rear wheel drive. The engine is also a lot lower than in a std car, this and the baffle requirements make it necessary to modify the
original Alloy sump at considerable cost

saigonij.
Are we to asume from your statement that you have left the standard sump on you Zetec?
Is it from a 1.8 or 2.0? Escort or Mondeo?
Cheers.

An escort zetec series 1 (silver top) sump is a slightly more shallow, maybe around one and a quarter inch so i'm informed.
I've had a look at one fitted in a luego last year at stoneleigh and sure enough it is better than the mondeo bucket. But alas at the end of the
day it does depend on height of engine when inline with the gearbox, actually as a matter of point how much angle can or should you put on the prop if
you want to raise the engine ?
Anyway dave, yes it is true a cvh sump will fit a zetec block but as said it involves some fetling

Hi,
Im using the original Escort 1.8 zetec sump.
( i think that answers both questions!!! )
So as well as the height, its also a bafflle thingy too. ok, i understand better now...
