Air hole sealed in carb

Looking at buying a MK Indy Fireblade and when i asked what type of carbs he is running he advised:

the carbs are the bike carbs for the fire blade but 128 main jets instead of the standard 120 jets and one air hole bloked to comensate for not actualy bieng on the bike
got all my info from my brother as he is a bike mechanic

Is this correct?

Yep, he's talking about blocking up the air corrector hole, not sure exactly what it does to be honest, but the Dynojet kits all tell you to block it up.
Have a look here on Dan Bromilows website, they are Blackbird carbs but essentially the same.

yup, very normal, especially if not running standard air box.

I was just about to ask the question about blocking the air bleed holes. I remember that Jon Ison mentioned using cocktail sticks. Does anyone know what they actually do ? I guess blocking them (or the one in the picture, richens the mixture in the idle or main circuit). Picture from:

What sort of difference does blocking the hole make ? Rescued attachment carb9.jpg
