Ditto Mark. Im using 38DGAS with my originally injected pinto. Head works very well with mods as it flows better than non-injection to start with.
When im in a position to take the carb off ill probs go for bike carbs with EDIS4 and megajolt (&TPS for 3D mapping).

Other choice is using bike throttle bodies and megasquirt.

Sell the pinto drop in a 2 litre Zetec and use Griffin power systems aftermarket injection 900 quid buys you everything you need to get the zeetec running at 160 brake and from one of the most helpful guys in the kit business.

ultimate power or an easy life?

for power, go for the twin 45's or the bike carbs

for an easy life and a blacker bank balance, go for the injection.

I went for the latter, instant starting, ticks over at 875rpm all the time, mods cost about £25.00 - still makes your eyes hurt on full chat Rescued attachment Plenum2.jpg

What do bike carbs give you over Webers or Dellortos? I have twin Dellorto 40s on my 2.0l pinto - bought them second hand on ebay as money was tight...

If they are both set up right ,there shouldn't be much difference.

But many people report flat spots in they're weber/dellorto setups.

Also as the bike carbs used are constant velocity with a vacuum controlled piston, you effectively have a carb that changes size as you go up the rev range ,so at small openings you get the flexibility and torque of small carbs ,and then when wide open you have the top end power of a carb larger than the usual webers/dellortos, typically 38 - 42mm bore.........

My own will tickover at about 500 rpm , and if you try hard you can pull away in 4th gear , and then accellerate seamlessly to the rev limit.........

They can also be bought for £35 - £100.......

It is Griffin makes them for Trust!!!!
Only he sells them £100 cheaper!!!!

Edit

Actually I don't think he does make them but was the system designer.

Does that mean they are like SUs ? if so why not use SUs - they are simple to work on

Do bike carbs use the same (as SU) needle system for regulating the mixture?

What is the process for 'mapping' the mixture on these carbs?

jacko,

Nice installation. What was your reason for using SUs and how did you get them set-up.
Did you just buy off the shelf needles that you were told would do or did you machine existing ones.
Do they work well ?
