Low profile oil filler cap for duratec?
The oil filler cap on my duratec install hits the bonnet, so I'm looking for a low profile one (without spending a fortune).
I've seen a few pictures on the web of duratecs with what looks like a flat plastic filler cap, but I can't seem to find where to buy
one.
I could cut the current one down, but as its a hollow design it would require some sort of plate sticking to it. That seems a lot of effort for a
filler cap.
Any ideas of where to get one?
Cheers

I had a similar problem on my pinto, and machined the cap fitting off and bonded a flat plate to it. The only downside (which wasn't even
remotely a major one) was that I did oil-changes through the crank-case blow-off valve hole.

Have a look round a scrap yard. Most seem to share a common thread. I took one from a Sierra 2ltr (not pinto), fits a mazda engine fine.

You can take the top off the cap and put a Allen key in the hole with a smear of oil on it and poor some resin round it leave it to dry and pull the
key out that's what I have done
If a little hammer won't fix it get a bigger hammer

I cut the filler tube off and tig welded on the filler hole from a Golf.
This is lower than the cambelt cover so fits nicely.
EDIT: Just re-read your post and it's about a Duratec not a Pinto!

Now that's an idea. Cheers

The low profile cap comes attached to the low profile cam cover which is expensive as all things Duratec.
Never seen one sold separately.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

How much are you looking to save in height?
If you have the plastic cam cover then you could switch to the aluminium cam cover which has a different/lower filler cap (threaded).
The other thing with the aluminium cam cover filler cap is that the click mechanism top can be removed making it even lower (but still removable).
The aluminium can be sprayed black if you prefer the look of the plastic cover.
I have examples of both cam covers so could measure the heights if I get a bit of time tonight/tomorrow night.

i have a spare alloy cover if you find its lower than yours.... could take to stonleigh if you are going, am sure we could come to a price (pint or
2!!)
I'd love to give my imaginary friend a great big hug,
but this jacket makes it impossible.

I only need a few mm so I must be able to just mod the filler cap.
But thanks for the offers guys. Appreciated!
