how to make diy trumpets?

Whats the best way to make diy trumpets?

I have a big dip in the torque curve at 4500rpm and I'm hoping longer trumpets will do the trick.

Trouble is with a v8 is the cost of 8 of the beggers. Cheapest are £100 from dodgy site.

I've seen various ideas searching on this site but no success stories.

Anyone who has done it like to share - as the actress said to the bishop.

Cheers!

What length are they now?

Bike ones are long and short if I remember correctly on the hayabusa engine might be worth investigation

I machine an ally former , I've done a few different shapes over the years , I now make the slip-on area a larger size to suit the `body and step down so as to have no step into the the bore .

My latest V6 ones are as short as possible (for bonnet clearance) and have exatly the same power / torque curves as the longer ones I used to use .

Its cuz I is blond , innit

I made my own inlet trumpets and integrated a backing plate for a PX600 filter. I know the 4age is not the torquiest engine so wanted the longerst trunpets I could. I ended up extending them to the point that the filter pokes through the bonnet allowing for cool air which is great.

Its now noisey but passes 99db track days. Its got a great growl induction noise!!

I made it by getting some plate for the backing section and some thick walled tube (I want to SC my car one day so wanted to make it adaptable and able to take pressure). I made sure that the internal dia was most suitable for my ITB. I cut it all up, got it welded and made the turned edges myself with a dremel (took for ever!!) I used no more nails for metal to stick the backing plate and turned ends together.
