Pipercross air filter - can i still use

It seems I have a little friend in the garage who has decided to take a liking to my air filter at has been sat on the wheel over the winter.he's nippled through the foam, but only as far as the red layer. Will this still be okay to use, looks perfect from the inside.

Mine looks the same and I'm still using it, last winter mice ate my foam Pipersross filter and all my roll cage padding. Where they ate into the roll cage (Kirkey closed cell foam type) padding it went all wet and an oily black around everywhere that was eaten into, made a right old mess. I have plastic nut covers and they ate through the top of every single one of those as well. Thankfully the wiring was untouched.

Edit - I later figured out the mice could only get into the engine bay and cabin when the front end was up on trolley jacks. I used to leave the car on the jacks for weeks at a time if I was working on it and they always seemed to do damage at these times so I figured they must be running up the trolley jack arm.

each layer is meant to capture a different particle size, that’s why the foam varies though the damage looks minor, I’d still use them. I use to pour oil on my foam filters for the beach buggy and then wring the excess out.

My dad recently put some boxes from the garage in the back of his car, not realising there was a mouse in one. Big holes in the rear seats now!

following on, recently cleared my shed (house move is ongoing) and found a box with one baited mousetrap left inside. On opening the box there was a mouse tail hanging out of the baitbox. Guess it did the trick!
however, several other things have holes in them, so the little bugger must have sniffed the bait out a bit too late.

BUT they do work. I will leave a couple in my sheds and garage.
