Pinto Thermostat Housing
My 2.0 Pinto thermostat housing exits upwards and to the nearside.
This is a pain to route to the Micra rad which has inlet on other side.
I'm sure I saw a picture put up awhile ago which had a Pinto with the thermostat housing going downwards and to the offside.
Anyone know where to get one of these? Or what it was? The standard one can't just be 'flipped' as far as I can tell as the bolt
holes are offset.
Thanks,
James

James, I saw that picture too, it was someone who had just flipped the standard housing, and only one hole had a bolt in it.
I made up my own hose to get over the problem

If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Hi James
I've cut the top off my housing and had it re-welded pointing the other way, only cost a £5 at local eng shop

Thanks for replies everyone.
Mark,
I'll sue him for mis-leading me! I seem to remember it was the chap who's avatar is him in skiing gear with a big spiky skiing hat on-
can't remember his name though to look again!
Bob,
Thanks for the offer. I've actually already done mine similarly to the way Mark has- just not as well!
Adrian,
I might give that a try- thanks for the info. You got any pictures?
At the end of the day what I have will work it just doesn't look that great.
Thanks,
James

Mark
I have to warn you that you seem to have added 1kg to your car weight with the excess water in that long hose....
that would matter to some people!

Ah ok, that's where you cut/joined it. Assumed you'd actually moved the 90° pipe to the other side. Good idea!
Were there any problems with fitting the thermostat once you'd chopped it?
Thanks for the picture,
James
