Griffon Type 2 curious box - advice needed
Further to previous posts about the Griffon. I have sold the engine (for more than the whole car cost!) and now I need to decide what to do with
it.
My first thought was to drop a simple Ford engine in and use it for the summer. This was because I thought I had a Type 9 box .... but I
haven't, I've got this. I have never seen anything like it!

It took me a bit of time to work out what it was. Its a type 2 that someone has done a very complicated and neat job of shortening the bell housing.
So it is no bl**dy use to me.
I do have a spare Type E (I think) maincase, so the question is .... How practical is it to swop the innards over and then get a standard
bellhousing?
If not ... what else do I do with it?

Isn't it worth something as it is? As I recall, it was connected to a Pug MI16 engine wasn't it? That is a cracking engine, and one that a
number of people on the forum have discussed using over the years, but commented that it is difficult to find a RWD gearbox... You have one ready to
go!

Yes, you were right. But one of the problems was that the engine was churning out 200 bhp and a type 2 is only good for about 130.
It may have been possible to uprate I suppose, lay shaft bearing etc, but unfortunatly I let the adapter plate go with the engine.
It wouldn't be difficult to make another one.

The internal ratios are different in the diesel anyway ---- best to get at type 9 .

What has diesel got to do with the question?

What about fitting a std MI16 back in? Would the pug 206 1.6 engine go in?
