Fantastic! :D
Seen a couple of posts about these and seem really interesting.
So, 1st question:
What're they off?
2. What ignition system you using? Which ECU/software?
3. What size chokes are they?
4. How hard to get to fit- presumably we're not lucky enough for there to be any sort of bolt-on like the XE/Blackbird guys.
Cheers, sorry for all the Q's.

Looks good, nice welding round the manifold. Now all you need is a decent engine to mount them to.

James,

Suzuki GSXR 750/1100
2. What ignition system you using? Which ECU/software?
There was not enough room for the dizzy cap under the carbs so we have gone distributerless ignition. Its a megajolt ecu from Brent Picasso. These
shots were taken before the timing wheel was mounted on the bottom pulley.
3. What size chokes are they?
They are cv carbs and dont have a choke as such 38 mm straight through at full throttle!!
4. How hard to get to fit- presumably we're not lucky enough for there to be any sort of bolt-on like the XE/Blackbird guys.
They do need spacing out, but its not too difficult. Two new brackets and modifyed linkage.
Cheers, sorry for all the Q's.
No probs.

Welding is done by a local guy who makes tig welding look like art.

I've got a set for my 1430 Crossflow. Bought them from Newark autojumble for a tenner.

I think you'll find:
1. That the floats need to run horizontally and that you'll need to incline the carbs by 25 degrees.
2. They need rubber mounting using short lenghts of silicon hose or similar.
In the near future "Retro" magazine will be publishing an article about fitting bike carbs to car engines. This was centered at the
"Bogg Brothers" establishment near Malton and I was in attendance as their engine man. Featured in the article should be a 2.0l-8v Nova,
16v-1400 Corsa, 1600CVH-Westfield, 2.0 Pinto-Tiger, 1300-16v Micra Challenge car, & 1600 X'Flow Escort. These were the cars in their
workshops on the day! They have fitted dozens of cars, both competition and fast road with such carb setups. They'll make you a manifold, supply
carbs (the right ones for your engine type), make an airbox, fit the lot and rolling road tune your car for around £500. You'll do it cheaper
yourself but beware, few rolling roads have a clue about jetting CV bike carbs! The transformation in performance is unbelievable.

Bike carbs...
You'll need some sort of rubber neck between the carbs and manifold, otherwise you'll get hot frothy fuel!
Have you sorted out needles and jets yet?
If they are Mikunis you should try Allens performance:

Yes you are right about the incline. The photo makes it look worst than it is. They are only really a few degrees off the optimal angle.
They are held on with rubber hose. It was on order at the time the photo was taken. We just nipped them on with a couple of jubilles to so we could
visualise what sort of room we had for an airfilter arrangement.
I ran some bike carbs on a 1400cc cvh a few years ago. They were great. Can't see why anyone would bother shelling out for 40/45s

I'm not bad at jetting cv carbs. My last project was a turbo blade that blew through cv carbs. By the time i got it running how i wanted i
reckon i could strip a set of blade carbs down with my eyes closed!

I'm very impressed but the jetting would be a concern for me. Where the hell would you start?

Well sorted "Garage 19" you've got all the angles covered!
Couldn't agree more about wasting money on sidedrafts, these are much better. Please ignore my Avatar - it's about 3 years old now (both
the car and the pic) - I'm just too busy to fit the R1 carbs I've got for it - maybe this winter!

Can anyone who knows about fitting bike carbs to an VX XE tell me as much info as possible? I'm very interested for a future upgrade!
I live near Boggy, he set up my Webbers, so I'll have a ride on to see him, but nothing wrong with the DIY approach!
Cheers

Garage 19,
How did you get on with the bike carb installation? Any developments?
By the way, what engine is that?
Cheers,
Darren.
