Emergency air filter ideas

I have the MOT booked for 11am tomorrow, but time ran away with me today due to a faulty fan controller (I'm now wiring direct through the ignition to quick fix), but this means my airbox is far from ready....

I have ram pipes so thought that tights electric tied around them would be sufficient for a 5mile round trip, thoughts? and how many layers of tights?? Any other suggestions appreciated.

I run without any filters on my bike carbs, not a problem after several thousand miles.

Run open. You're more likely to cause problems by cobbling something together.

If through the bonnet what about one of those fricking big plastic milk bottles with holes cut out to match the pipes and then cut the back end off so it's open?
Slip the pipes through the holes and tape the bottom to stop it sliding down the pipes and blocking them - simples!
HTH.

i wouldnt run open at this time of year with the gritters out. it will only take one bit of grit to kill a valve and bore. if it was me i would just stick a rugby sock over it and few cable ties to stop it getting sucked into the inlet.

tights as air filters is an old thing in bike racing circles in the 70's, never worked tights are a fine mesh very stretchy and disappear into the engine very easily and i always found them very restrictive, the way round it was to put somefine wire mesh over the bellmouths

The TB's are under the bonnet and in direct line of the front passenger wheel, to add to the risk there isn't a wheel arch liner; running open is too high a risk for my liking.

Cancel the MOT test and rebook when you've sorted out an airbox
