Wood Auto starter

Ive got a 2.0 zetec blacktop with the 2 piece sump, Ive removed alot of the finning on the ally part of the sump (as per other posts) but the starter I have still wont fit.

Found this at Wood Auto and it looks like it is quite a bit smaller than the standard Ford part, has anybody used one?

Not used that started but I had to grind down the ally part quite alot. There was a lug that stuck out too, so that got grinded away and starter fitted a treat. Sorry cant be any help with the starter in the link.

Cheers for the reply. I have taken quite a lot of the original away, dont really want to grind any more

The problem is the starter is hiting the flange where the steel part meets the ally bit!

From the info I have I believe it is a Unipart starter motor and I think it is bigger than some of the other makes, loads of Sierra starters on fleabay but I dont want to shell out more cash if Im not sure it will fit!

Certainly taken more away than I have, looks like you broke through at the top, bit of ally welding needed!
