where is the engine number
Can anyone tell me where to find the engine number on a 2.0 blacktop zetec

If its there its on a flat edge just above the cps, the flange the gearbox mounts to. New and replacment engines may not have one.

hi Richard
what is the nice shiney blanking plate blanking off?
I noticed in your photo archive you tried fitted alternator to passenger side
any reason you changed to drivers side

Its just a breather blank. The donor one only opperates under vacuum so doesnt work at all in a kit unless you have all the Egr bits.
Turbo cars tend to just stick a core plug in it.
They breath fine just through the rocker cover.

When I dropped the engine in I soon noticed that my alt was too big for that side, so either fab a little bracket for the other side and sell my fancy
one I made or buy a smaller alt, I decided in true locost style to fab a little bracket.
I also made my blank however I have now vented it off as idle was a bit lumpy with it blocked off.
