Cleaning exhaust manifold
Happy New Year.....
Right now that's over on to the serious stuff.
My exhaust manifold has been removed due to engine and gearbox swap.
The bandage disintegrated so new has been ordered, this will cover most of the manifold to the point it exits the side panel, from there on it has
suffered greatly from the heat turning a dull brown.
There has been talk of a chemical paste that does a passible job of restoration.
Anyone know what it's called and where I can get it?
Any other tips bearing in mind I have tried most polishing stuff

And a Happy New Year to you too Snapper.
The blue acid gel that's used to remove weld discolouration is called Avesta BlueOne.
Words of advice/warning:-
1. It's not cheap.
2. Use outside standing upwind. (Brush on and leave for 6 hours. Wash off with a Karcher)
3. Final polish with Solvol or similar.
4. Wear rubber gloves and face/eye protection, even when washing off.
5. Works best on good quality stainless. (304/316)
6. It's expensive.
There's a bloke that sells it near Sudbury. U2U for his address if I haven't put you off.
Pictures say a thousand words. The one below is Gaz,s car. 10 years old and 35k miles.

There is another variation sold here
Really nasty stuff though - a mixture of Nitric, Sulphuric and Hydrofluoric acids
