Weber carb help needed

I have a 32DFM carb that has been sat in my shed for ages. I've dusted it off to see if it would be salvageable. It has a hole which leads from outside of the venturi that leads directly to the inside. It is under the number 26 stamped on the outside. My understanding of the way carbs work may not be up to scratch, but I can't see why this should be there - should there be a plug?
Does anyone have a 32DFM that they could look at and let me know what should be there.
Thanks in advance
Dave

No, it has a manual choke mechanism.

I've scanned weber and old ford sites and eventually found a pic on the practical classics site which seems to show a plugged hole - which is easy enough to do.
Thanks for the response jacko
