Starter for zetec...
I have just bought a starter for my zetec to type 9 installation, but it doesn't fit. The flange on the sump stops the starter from lining up
correctly.
It is from a sierra 2.0 dohc, but I think its from a 4x4 model.
My question is, have I bought the wrong one? And if I have, does anybody have the correct one for sale...
cheers

Whats the model on it.
You do need to shave a bit of a standard sump to get it to fit.
Silver top is just the ribs on the sump.
Black top is big chunks.

Is it the lucas starter, from memory LRS707 rings a bell in my head ?
You may well have the correct starter, i had to grind my old zetec sump back a bit to get the starter on.
Not sure if the DOHC sierra starter is the same as the CVH sierra starter but its deffinatly the LRS 707 from lucas.

Was hoping for first start of the zetec this week, but that will have to wait now.
Thanks for your help mate.

fitted 2 zetecs now into 2 different cars I cut a section out and had Martin Keenan weld a plate to the inside to give a recess for the starter to sit
in, did this at the same time as having it shortened
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone
