Progress today. 8h non stop.
Well, i was up before the kids went to school,and i only had one break to go and get some more MIG wire and 2" pipe.
Got the sumpback on (Bitch of a job), Oil pump apart and together again (needs to come off again though, as i think the pressure releif valve is
sticking still), turbo manifold adapter made, welded and fitted, turbo mounted, oil feed and drain installed, spanner rash on right hand and cold
through!
Productive day. Just need to get the 5 bolt flange so i can make the exhaust, take it all apart again and fit it properly with gaskets etc.
Anyone got any ideas for heat proof gaskets LOCOST stylee?
The only downside is that the sump needs to come off again to get to the oil pump. 
Still, at least ill be good at it soon!!

Struggled with the welder today for some reason, so its a bit messy. I plan to wrap it anyway.

can you send me a template of your 5 bolt flange?
just because you are a character, doesnt mean you have character....
for all your bespoke parts, ali welding, waterjet, laser, folding, turning, milling, composite work, spraying, anodising and cad drawing....

I ended up using gaskets I made myself out of 1mm copper sheet, annealed with a blowtorch until dull red and left to cool. Worked fine when all
standard turbo gaskets were failing.
Important to have the mating faces absolutely flat though, with no warping at all, otherwise it'll blow gaskets all the time. I know the bolts
aren't done up tight, but in your photo above it looks as though the turbo end of your adaptor is warped. Might be worth having it skimmed flat
before fitting.

I thought that, but its flat, and just not donw up tight enough.

I barry,
I havent made one yet. Ive got a flange coming from MadTeg (eventually!!??) so ill see if i can make a paper template, cad it and email it over. I
need to buy a license for TurboCAD first though! - £50 odd, so once i get the flange ill do it.

the 5 bolt flange does not need a gasket , youll be replacing it every other week , youll find it seals without one .

Cool, that savesme a bit. Itill need some for the T3 flanges and the TD04 manifold flange.
I was thinking of using ceramic wool? The same as used in boilers and furnaces.
Anyone comment on that?

If you want to anneal copper - heat it up to dull red and quench in cold water (the opposite to steel !)
I've made loads of xflow exhaust gaskets like this - I have an old hot water cylinder behind the shed that I am slowly cutting up 
Its cuz I is blond , innit

Try a product called foliac manganese mate, we use it all the time on our heater blocks at work and they run at 370 degrees C, i think RS sell it in
small tins but not sure on price, think its about a tenner a tin.
Its a black paste that goes off relatively hard but is easy to remove when you need to, its a gas tight seal too.
Its made by a company called Rocol.
(Will call you once ive done me online banking/car tax mate)

youll need some sort of crimped thin stainless that you clamp down to make the seal , ive run plenty of turbos without gaskets , but they were
machined faces .
the t3 gaskets are about 4$ on ebay .
