How much oil needs my Sierra diff. ?
Hello,
When i was painting my diff all the oil leaked out. Now that wasn't a problem but i'm now at the stage of mounting the rear axles and i
don't now how much oil the diff needs. It's a standard Sierra diff. And what kind of oil does it need. Is Transmission oil also oké ?

0.8 or 0.9ltr depending on model from dry or 10mm below filler hole otherwise. Oil grade is hypoid sae90ep.

yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

just did mine - took 0.9 litres before it started to dribble out of the filler hole.
incidently, I drained my diff of the old oil using a marine oil change pump I bought from the local marina supplies. Easiest way I have ever found of
removing the oil from a diff or gearbox. Pump was Ł7, image below.
