Starter motor wiring

The piccy is of the starter motor as it was wired to the crossflow. The starter I replaced it with (from a 2.0 DOHC) to mount to the Zetec only had the live feed plus one other and one terminal unused. Question is how do I wire the new starter to my existing wiring, live is easy, what about the other two is there a particular way they should go on. The small terminal looks like it should be the starter solenoid and is usually a white / red trace wire from the ignition switch. Earth is usually through the engine block and a big earth lead back to chassis or battery.

One of the smaller wires will be the feed from the ignition /starter switch and the other is likely to be the feed to the coil bi passing the ballast resistor that was used on the X flow, no longer needed.
