Zetec to Type 9

Hauled the Crossflow out this afternoon ready to insatll a Zetec (1.8). Everything went to a new home forward of the bell housing. Now I know a type 9 will mount to a Zetec but my bell housing looks miles too big, does it need some sort of adaptor plate, the one that was on there for the crossflow went with it. This is the bell housing after the crossflow went.

Nope looks about right.... You can't use the bottom holes because these sit about sump height and there is nothing to bolt them to. I made up an ally spacer plate to prevent the crap from the road going into the bell housing... Also converted the type 9 to hydraulic with the Burton type 9 conversion kit.
thanks

This is the plate that was in the Crossflow (no longer in the right place as it's not bolted to anything) Rescued attachment p1.jpg

Afraid not, it went with the Crossflow, wish I'd known you could have had it, not sure the guy who took the Crossflow either wanted or needed it (it's going into a mark 2 Escort)

You wanted yours for the zetec.

They are allways in demand but getting them cut and making money out of the job is another matter.

Not so worried about making money out of it, but providing them to the people that need the most.

I reckon an order of a dozen or so should go relatively quickly.

Before the thread gets well and trully hijacked there are several more items needed for the conversion, yes the type nine will bolt to the zetec, you need to fit a spiggot bearing do a search on ebay there about £6.00, I used the standard zetec cluth plate and pressur plate with the standard release arm and bearing from the sierra. You also nees the 2l DOHC starter motor or the one from the 1.8cvh engine. then theres the oil filter steering problem to overcome.Oh and the sump modification. All of the above are silvertop zetec related problems some will be blacktop problems also

Thanks for the replies chaps, I was aware of most of the 'problems' but not the oil filter one, what's that one about.
As for the plate I should have kept from the Crossflow, is it not possible to Dremel one out of an ally sheet or does it have to be steel ( the Crossflow one was).

The oil filter mount position is directly in the path of the standard MK steering column. Dont know about yours.

it needs another UJ and a bearing assembly
to hold the linking section.

Anyone know if the 2 litre DOHC in the Transit is the same as the Sierra, I can find plenty of new DOHC Transit starters at a good price, are they suitable?
