fu*k F**K and F*CK!!!!!!
everything was going swimmingly: fitted valves to head, fitted and torqued cylinder head down, fitted oil cooler and oil take off but then it went
horribly wrong.
can you spot it?
oil cooler take off
look again ....
filter no fitty :(
yep - the engine has moved so I cannot fit the oil filter ... for sure I didn't see that one coming.

well, yeah .... options are, in orfer of increasing cost:
1) head off to halfords to see if there is a shorter filter - I have Champion one which is about 10 mm shorter but is meant to be equivalent of the
Motorcraft one - still a bit too big plus I need to lift engine to get the filter on.
2) use champion filter but with thinner take off - pretty sure that Thinkauto do them
3) fit remote
or not bother with the oil cooler.
so close yet ......

I happen to have a Mocal remote filter head still in the packaging on the shelf here. Dunno whether I've got the fittings for it (think I used
them on my cooler). U2U if interested
ETA - Actually, just had a look and I do have the 1/2" tails for it too. It's the in one side, out the other type.

As above, remote filters aren't very expensive and are really easy to fit!

I found a host of shorter filters. I think the one I went for was for a Renault 5 as it has the non-return flap and a tube up the middle so it can be
run any way up.
And it was the cheapest on the shelf at £1.95.......

Take the cooler sandwich plate off, the filter will fit then just to get things running, then you need a cap for the sandwich - I got mine from
Burton, a remote head, and plumb the cooler and filter in series.

... bugger ... didn't think anyone was here on weekends .... ... thanks for taking trouble to reply especially when ytou should be outside
enjoying the sunny shine.
So with that in mind, I popped off to Halfords and went through their entire range of own brand and Champion filters.
There was one really shallow one but wrong thread so I bought the shortest but same diameter, and guess what, it fits - with about 10 mm clearance.

Sorted! Must be close to getting it back on the road soon?
I bought a remote filter kit which I never used, because when I fitted the engine mounts I got off you it raised the engine up enough to fit the
filter where it should be!

I have a GFE210 (very small) which I used when I had the same problem. Fits old Renaults with a 3/4" thread.
Can post you one out of monday if you want.
Will get measurrments later!

I had the same problem with mine, new engine mount rubbers and some 6mm plate sorted it though.
However, this seems like a proper solution, dunno how it was done.

Looks like the Fiesta oil pump. Works ok if you don't have Locost engine mounts.

I can't change posiiton of mine as the head needs to be in the position it is is now.
I didn't notice the oil pump position when I first saw the block but there is something unusual about it - on passenger side I can see 3 bolt
holes where there usually are 4 for the engine mount.
Also there a lot of bolts on the front that I don;t have on mine - timing cover is a bit weird - is it Fiesta?
It may be that the oil pump was rotated and extra holes dirlled ? but then the oil ways need to match - notice there is an empty bolt hole near the
oil pump - so it the pump itself different?
