vauxhall ecotec x20xev on bike carbs. Ignition?

What does everyone use? I guess you could trick the std management into thinking the injectors were still live but then you have a 6800 limiter....

Looking at a pikey budget so full mappable management etc are out!

You can buy a built-up megajolt from a member on here for less than £100 I'd imagine. Well worth it

ha ha sbd's ignition kit is over £400!

like i say, have a word with paulf for his prices, but you should be able to get all your components sorted for just over £100 for the megajolt from paul fully built and tested, and ford edis/coil/vr sensor off ebay, although paul does these too. also speak to andyw7de on here, as he cut a trigger wheel sensor bracket for my x20xev on his waterjet. i've still got the drawings if its any use to you. he might still have it too. just leaves a trigger wheel to be made

so all in, £130 perhaps?

hardly worth soldering it up myself I guess.

I assume you need the edis unit, I have a vauxhall coilpack lying

trigger wheel is 36-1 isnt it?

What sensor do you need?

normally the coil, edis, and sensor will all come together.
I had a look at the vauxhall coil and i think it can be used, but i couldn't make sense of the connections, there seemed to be too many pins.

the edis controls the coil pack so you need both. the car can run without the megajolt, but you get a fixed 10 degree advance from the edis but it won't be great. the megajolt adjusts the timing advance.

Ah I see! I think in the vauxhall unit the euc does the lot as opposed to this ecu - edis - coilpack arrangement.

What about fuelling, anyone running a std ecotec on bike carbs who can share which carbs theyre using, jet sizes and an ign map

I'm trying to, struggling with a manifold though. my chassis is quite tight (its not a 7 chassis) and i've made one manifold that should be fine, but it doesn't fit inside the chassis rails. i made it without having the engine installed...

the flange plate was made by shorttrack123 on here, he also does exhaust plates too

i haven't got my engine running yet so i don't have an engine map, but if you get the megajolt from paul, it comes with a cd with all the software, and some starter maps. i think theres one for the c20xe on bike carbs. shouldn't be far off

megajolt
the likes of trigger-wheels.com will sell you a full kit for £270ish

but I got my MJ from paulf on here

and the EDIS, coilpack, VR sensor and all the wires from a scrapyard for £30 or less (early-mid 90's fords)

and a couple of people on here make trigger wheels a bit cheaper too

all in I think mine cost ~£150, cheaper than a mod'd dizzy for my pinto

I fitted MJ for no more than 150 all in. Nice simple system.
