Bonnet, to cutout, or not for air filter
Hi All,
After fitting my new engine over winter. (1600 xflow)
I've realised my current airfilter, a pipercross sausage type (twin DCOEs), won't with under the bonnet.
I'm considering a cutout, and changing the filter type.
Has anyone got any pictures of either there bonnet coutout for this application, or photos of other filter options with pros and cons. (tryign to
avoid indiviual socks)
Many thanks

Avoid individual socks like the plague. How much of the sausage filter would stick out of the bonnet?? I quite like the look of the domed sponge
sticking out (and sucking cooler air than from under the bonnet) but having the backplate showing isnt so pretty.

cut outs are the one and true way.
here is my bonnet when I was making the hole. since then it was buffed to make it looik nicer but this was arly days.
I used a nibbler to avoid distorting the aluminium.
the trim is some stuff freom maplins that they sadly no longer seem to sell.

Whats wrong with individual socks?
I have foam double filters on mine which are excellent. They also flow an awful lot better than K&N types.
Sausage filters are bloody expensive. A pair of double foams is about £30.

The individual ones (not the double ones like you have) can be sucked into the carbs i believe (from several sources)
