Bike carb connector rubbers.

Advice needed.....

People running bike carbs, what are you using for the joining rubbers? I've used Think Auto's fuel filler hose, but, the walls are too thick and interfere with the throttle spindle fittings.

The airbox is mounted off the manifold so there is no weight for the connector rubbers to take, simulating the way carbs are mounted on the bike. I've read varying accounts of using silicone, both perishing and lasting for years.

Thanks.

Pete.

I ended up buying the airbox from the bike breaker who sold me the carbs (£15 for the carbs, £5 for the airbox - plus postage). The airbox came with the connecting bits.

Having the correct connectors does make a difference, as they have internal ridges that locate in matching grooves in the carbs (and I put some in my manifold stubs too). This means that the clamps aren't so important for fastening - they keep a good air-tight seal, and stop the ridges popping out of the grooves.

R1 carb rubbers are about a fiver each from main dealers. They fit the carbs quite nicely.

I used the original carb inlet rubbers mounted on plates. Rescued attachment Inlet2.JPG
