can any of the grasstrack boys tell me which oil they put in there bike engined specials in the diff mine is a rs turbo with an ali cover some have suggested packing with grease or should i use the original gear oil?

good question. i've seen diffs packed with grease before, but i've always worried that the grease would get thrown off the gears and end up not getting covered, but instead would sit in a little channel in the grease (if you know what i mean) where oil would always be runny
but i guess the grease would melt when it heats up...

The grease is packed in via a grease nipple, so there should be no spaces, unless your diff leaks.
Sticking a grease gun on it every so often will tell you the state of play because it will ooze out of the nipple when full. (oo-er missus )

why use grease?
i dont see the benifit

If you use an encased diff for a chain drive, then the case is spinning with diff. It is easier to keep the case sealed if a nipple is used instead of a bolt.
