Hello again,
Another hopefully straight forward question. I have a ZX9R pump and needed to know if it matters which way up it is mounted, also is it ok for it to
be as high as the top of the tank. It is going to be difficult to get it too low. Ideally it will go where the red box is on the pic below which is
about level with the top of the tank.
Many thanks again, Andy

I wouldn't have thought it'd be a problem. My pump is at that level and in the engine bay(!) so right next to the tank shouldn't pose an issue. Don't blame me if it does though
My understanding from most builders that the best place is near to the carbs in the engine bay. The reason is that the majority of the fuel line is
them in vacuum and not under pressure. This reduces the chances of a line leaking or pumping fuel everywhere should it fracture.

Mimes down under the tank so its filled up with petrol thank to gravity... my last car had it up under the carbs... so it's up to U
I used to have the fuel pump next to the carbs, higher than the tank and having most of the fuel line under vacuum rather than pressure.
It was fine for a while, but then after a few thousand miles it packed in. Mind you that could be because it was an ebay special of unknown age /
condition etc.
I asked a few people who said that bike pumps prefer to push fuel, rather than pull. So I relocated mine to exactly where your red square is. Has
worked fine for another few thousand miles! Only slight thing is that after the car has stood for a few days, when you put the key in the ignition
you can't start it straight away. It needs 5-10 seconds to build pressure in the fuel line. After that you don't notice it.
