Header tank
triumphdave - 28/2/08 at 07:51 PM

I got myself a nice shiny new header tank today, but now its turned up I have noticed it has not got a pressure cap on it,its a screw in type. The rad is sealed also so I would not have any pressure release buit in.Has anyone got any ideas how I can get around this as I would like to use the new tank now I have bought it,and its nice and compact so will be easier to mount.

Depends on what thread is on the screw cap...

I've just bought a 17psi cap for my header tank off ebay (RS Turbo one - £0.99) and it is fine.

You can buy an inline 'T' that has a radiator cap fitting on one leg that allows you to fit a cap........

Agreed, car builder solutions (amongst others) do them. I have a Raceline water rail, which in theory means I need no header tank. I have one anyway (a plastic thing) but was thinking about a shiny one.

Most current tin tops have screw on presure caps. There are several thread sizes. Are you sure its not for one of these.

It comes with its own shiney cap, with a male thread and an "O" ring.I doesnt look like any cap I have seen,I think most threaded ones are female.
