36-1 Trigger Wheel on a Pinto ?

I need to mount a 36-1 trigger wheel of some kind on my pinto (its got a cossie crank)
I know I could buy something like this:

but they arn't cheap and thats not including the pulley 
I've got a cortina style single 'v' pulley I'd like to use - this suits the pinto crank which is 8mm shorter, so I'll need a
spacer anyway and I fancy doing something a little better than holding it with just the crank bolt trough the centre
.... so I was wondering about making a spacer that included a mount for the tigger wheel (or is the trigger wheel) like this:
only problem is the key will be covered by the pulley so I won't be able to use it to stop the trigger wheel turning
any thoughts ??

hmm really all you need is a disk with a roll pin between the disk and the pully hub?

the plan would be to drill out the ctr of the trigger wheel, big enough that the crank bolt + washer will fit throught the centre and clamp the
spacer/ pulley to the crank (without touching the trigger wheel)
but not so big that I need to get a ring type trigger wheel instead (although this woundn't be the end of the world)
I'd bolt the trigger wheel to the spacer with some small csk or cap heads into tapped holes in the spacer
but that still leaves one problem - there is nothing to stop the spacer / trigger wheel turning on the shaft ?????
of course I could make a whole new pulley with a trigger wheel mounting - but thats starting to get expencive

I got my trigger wheel and a bracket for making up the VR sensor mounting from him for £12 anyway.

yeah, I've seen them
I was thinking about something like the there RV8 ones - but I'll need to make something for them to mount to...

do you know which pulley you've got there ??
my problem is that I've given myself an extra headache by using the cossie crank - so I'll need a spacer of some kind regardless
I could get a cossie pulley - but these go for silly money (and weigh twice as much)

Its the standard Pinto pulley and the trigger wheel is simply bolted to it after locating it with the original pulley bolt as the hole is drilled
specific to fit. Just needed to leave the thick spacer off that was originally on the engine

ok thanks, so you've probably got the same pulley as me then
do you have a couple of washes behind the trigger wheel ?? (to make the centre of the pulley level with the outside edge - if that makes sense)
what are the 3 small bolts bolted to ? / did you have to drill / tap the pulley ?
(sorry for all the questions)

I simply put the trigger wheel on after the pulley and tightened the crank bolt and then backed it off a bit so that i could turn the trigger wheel to
align it as per instructions. Once this was done i drilled straight through the trigger wheel and pulley in one go amd fitted a long bolt and nyloc.
The trigger wheel sits flush against the outer edge of the pulley anyway so no need for washers. Adjustment to the timing is done via moving the the
VR sensor bracket which has a good few degrees of movement

If the puller holes are the same on the cortina style pulley as the cosworth one then the "lightweight" trigger wheel from
www.trigger-wheels.com should bolt straight on.

the cortina one I've got doesn't have any puller holes
its this type:
