CVH upgrade route ?Zetec
chrsgrain - 18/2/08 at 12:31 PM

Hi all,

My dad has got a Scimitar SS1 which has currently got a 1.6CVH engine from a fiesta in it. He wants to upgrade to something with a bit more punch, but wants it to be locost as possible!

Any ideas - he's thinking about the Zetec as an option... anyone got experience of this regarding engine mounts and exhausts etc etc? Any other clever ideas? (No - getting a proper car is not an option!)

Thanks

Chris

Slight bodge but The Zetec can be made to mate with the CVH exhaust manifold if you do web search search you will find the info.

If it the CVH was originally FWD in origin one of the engine mounts fits directly, the other is roughly similar to the CVH one so you should be able to fabricate what is required.

You could always go down the ZVH route if you want to keep the exhaust manifold etc.

Zetec block and CVH Head, requires minimal work and a special head gasket due to the oilways not aligning properly.
Its a common build, mainly where people already have a Turbo CVH engine.

Not sure of all the gains, but do a google and I am sure you will find all the info you need.

There are lots of options where Ford engines are concerned.

Just a thought!

Re manifold adaptors exhaust can be fitted without one but it is as said a bodge.

ZVH is not really an option -- it was just a way of build a reliable bottom end Turbo Fiesta.

I put a ferriday 2ltr bottom end in My westfield (CVH)........running solid lifters, and a kent cvh27 cam - power wise that gives around 160bhp, and very good torque (145ft/lb at 3500rpm).........The 2 ltr block is expensive, but very strong......

Just another option.....
