Old Cobra Replica...
The Great Fandango - 12/1/08 at 05:32 PM

Hi guys,

Some of you may have read my previous posting about a Cobra replica with moderate fibre glass crazing.

Well we went to see the car today, and the engine was in a bit of a poor way too. From what I can make out it's a Ford 2.0l DOHC.

As far as personally doing work on the car goes, we're OK on doing mechanical (bolting together type) jobs but neither of us would know what the hell to do with the engine itself.

A very poor idle, some coughing and spluttering, and it wouldn't start again once we stalled it (definitaly an electrical thing - alternator or otherwise, that we CAN fix)

My question is can anyone recommend a good place where we can simply take the car and have them check the ENGINE all over and repair/tune as necessary? Ideally the nearer to Leeds the better but we are willing to trailer further for a good and trustworthy service.

Your help is REALLY appreciated.

Kyle

V8 every time, cobra with 4 cyls just isnt right IMHO,
and it wont be worth half as much either.
you need a later version, mate as a autospeicali (spelling) and though its not a AK or dax its a very good example and goes like stink.
and it was half the price of either

lol...

Bogg Brothers was one I had thought of. From memory, isn't there a place near Stockport who has a rolling road and tuning/race prep ability?

If bought, we don't plan an engine swap. It'll be purely for a bit of simple driving fun, bringing more grin factor than your regular tin top (sorry to disappoint).
