Time to tart up the RX8 block, box and diff. They're not in bad nick, just a little bit of that salty-surface pitting on the metal, but I
thought that I'd be just as well doing this whilst it's all out on my worktop!.
I've never painted an engine / box / diff, but I have seen plenty examples of all three that look terrible.
So... are there any particular preparation techniques that should be used, and is there a 'best' paint product?
Any help would be mighty appreciated.
paint = excess weight.
if alloy gearbox, then a light spray with clear laquer should stop corrosion.
I like your style sir - might get away with that on the engine and box, but the diff could defo do with some sprucing!
I did my diff and gearbox with a rotary wire brush then sprayed with Hamerite, still looks like new after a few 000 miles and 3 years.

On the diff I just wire-brushed it, degreased it and sprayed it with Hammerite. I think I primered it first. No sign of any chipping yet (though
it's well out of the way of stone chips up there). Usually I prefer Plasticote paints as I find they're more durable (but I just happened to
have some satin black Hammerite available at the time)....

I only realised afterwards I wasn't using the OEM rear diff carrier!!!
Nice work gentlemen!
