Jam-fit or glue?
David Jenkins - 31/12/07 at 08:37 PM

I've just fitted a crankcase breather outlet to my x-flow block.

No carbs
No carbs

At the moment it's a jam-fit, so to speak, but should I use some liquid gasket stuff? There's no o-ring on the bit that sticks into the block, so there's no seal as such.

Mind you, it won't be holding any pressure, 'cos the other end of the hose will go into the catch tank.

cheers,
David

all the ones i have ever fitted, a few! have always had an o-ring groove sure theres not one there? if not and its a tight fit i would leave well enough alone.

Just gave mine a light tap with a lead mallet, been in 12 months so far with no problems

That type is just a interference fit, wack it in with a soft hammer or block of wood and normal hammer and it will be fine.

Mines just tight fit in pinto and seems to work fine (well at least now ive stopped putting too much oil in!!!)

If your worried about it put some Loktight bearing fix on it before you knock it in.

bleu gasket sticky stuff around the thing and put it in. will be ok like that.

Btw that is by far the cleanest x-flow I've ever seen.

It had recently been wiped!

Also, I've been trying very hard to close up all the oil leaks (95% success).
