Where to buy engine mounts
givemethebighammer - 1/10/03 at 10:19 PM

might be a stupid question but where do I buy engine mounts that look like black rubber donuts with a bolt sticking out each side. Motorfactors ? Main Dealer ?

Which models of car used these types of mounting ?

i know this, i know this ....

errm hold on ....

rummage rummage....

Luego use ...

MRM161 which is equiv to EM670 which is a MOPROD product.

If you go onto www.QHA.co.uk (or it could be .com) you'll find out that the product is the front (or rear) engine mount for a lot of old pinto based fords. Go along to your local motorfactor and they'll get it from Quinton Hazel for you pretty quickly - for me within a day usually.

Their is another one that is thicker than this one - not sure what thats off.

oh, EAN code, 5011454133974

good hunting. I got two from Luego at Donnington for a tenner.

Mark Allanson - 2/10/03 at 07:01 AM

Landrover ones are £5 each genuine!

Hornet - 2/10/03 at 07:10 AM

mk 5 cortina ones £5 each from Ford.

Big Stu - 2/10/03 at 07:16 AM

Used ford transit ones, are exactly like your drawing £2.61 from the motor factor. When I go home I will get part number for you. Fitting it to a zetec as well and have found no problems with them so far.

Was speaking to a friend about this recently, he has a fair amount of experience in mounting engines and said I needed to use a metalastic bush/rubber thing and the best way was to use a cup style mounting with a bolt through it.

Not exactly sure what this looks like, so if anyone could enlighten me or post pics of mounts/suggest photo archives...

Thanks,

Ned.

givemethebighammer - 2/10/03 at 03:33 PM

thanks

I rang a few motorfactors today
they want £14-16 +VAT per mount !!!!

Ford can't help - basically if I can't give a vehicle and date on manufacture they can't look it up !!!

However had someone point me in the direction of www.chestersportscars.co.uk
(guys who blew the yellow bike engined tiger up at Donnington show the other weekend, leaving oil all over the track !!!)

They sell some polybush mounts for the zetec for £18 the pair !!!

Going to try a few other places first but may well go down this route

Fiesta gearbox mounts are what MK use.

They're 70mmx55mm by about 50mm deep.

I bought a pair for £10 from Camberley Auto Factors.

HTH,

James

Yep !!

Fiesta ones are what I have bought, nice and small, about £6 each from the motor factors. Check Pearle products web catalogue for pics of these and many more.

Mick

givemethebighammer - 2/10/03 at 05:35 PM

Pearle products ?

can't find this ?

Ben_Copeland - 2/10/03 at 06:15 PM

Surely you can make up a Vehicle and age of manufacture for ford.... can't be difficult.

What year of manufacture would a mk5 cortina be..... surely someone must know... look on autotrader maybe....

Then go to ford and tell them !

From what I've read on this, and the other list, Ford engine mounts are quite soft. As Mark Allanson said, Landrover ones are cheap as chips. Pop down to your local Landrover emporium and have a look at them. If they don't suit your requirements you don't have to buy them.

JoelP - 2/10/03 at 09:30 PM

i went to andrew page, they're nationwide arent they? i think the fiesta one is too small to be too soft, sierra ones are HUGE so maybe the fiesta ones are better? i know for sure next year!

Mark Allanson - 2/10/03 at 10:01 PM

Hope this helps - the only bit of landrover in the car! (Ford, Nissan, Fiat, etc!!!) Rescued attachment EngineMount.JPG

givemethebighammer - 3/10/03 at 09:28 PM

thanks
went the whole hog and ordered some poly ones today from Chester Sportscars £18 the pair. Before I did, I spoke MK for some advice. My conclusion was that the extra for the poly ones wasn't worth worrying about.

Fiesta Landroveretc mounts £10 pair
Transit Mounts £30 pair
Poly Mounts £18

see what I mean ?
