Bike carb filters
Pdlewis - 29/7/07 at 09:19 PM

Hello,

What air filters are people using on their bike carbs?

Was thinking of either a sausage filter or just socks

Cheers

Paul

Hi Mitch

what have you done about trumpets? also what jet size are you running?

Don't use the sock filters! They are shocking for flow, whilst a suitable sausage filter will be much better.
The other option is 4 single filters, ie 4 mini K&N's or similar.

Si,

I was looking at the mini moto style k&n filter but wasnt sure if thed allow for enough air flow, has anyone tried them?

Boggs recommend the pipercross style sausage filters, i think mainly as you dont get too many fitting problems with space etc.
They also recommend Vision plus (01925 226248) as a good air filter supplier. They have a website if you do a search. From what ive seen their prices are good.

Ive got the std Kawasaki trumpet plate fitted underneath a huge 100mm K&N challenger air box.

Air box and filters is what you need + nice cold air look in my photo archives under zx9r carbs
ps nothing wrong with socks

Cheers guys

I think i may try the K & N style one as they look pretty cool and looks like i could fit them without having to cut a hole in my bonnet

Paul

Don't forget you need cold air to the filters

I do have an intake on top of the bonnet which fed the 32/36 webber so this should provide cold air without having to cut new holes

I'm tempted with the 4 little ones, as I think they look quite tidy. Cold air won't be a problem with mine, as they stick out in the wind! Rain could be an issue though.....
