Hi,
Does anyone know whats involved in putting a 5 speed manual a6 gearbox behind a rover v8 ? Because I have a 4.6 one in the floor.
Thinking rear engine after looking at some cars at Goodwood... expecially a little cooper.
Cheers Mark

why not just use an audi engine
because I already have a 4.6 rv8 doing nothing from a landrover I used to race.
Regards Mark
probably cheaper long run to sell the 4.6 and but an audi v8 drivetrain ,ive driven a few a6/a8 v8,s and they certainly rev well
The V6's are much more common and MUCH cheaper and really rather good, but the V8 is nice

and plenty available. both the v6 as the v8

You will need to make up an adapter plate and extend the crank by around 20mm It can be done, but I gave up and got an Audi 4.2 V8 off flea bay for £110. Try searching this forum for info http://www.gt40s.com/forum/gt40-tech-powertrain-transaxles/
I am doing this, adaptor sawn off a manual box, to be welded to the Audi box (losely clamped in place), then using the ring gear and spacer for a ZF
auto to take the Audi clutch.
