I vaguely remember seeing pix in here of someone's Pinto engine/gearbox painted black and silver. Wondering who it was so I can have a look at their photo archive to see it that really is the way I want to go.

Looks very nice and I think I will go that way. Is that siver or is it actually blue/grey as it looks in the pic?

The picture I'm thinking of though was engine and gearbox mated (ooooer!) sitting in a garage against a brick wall. I'll have a trawl through your pix tomorrow when I'm at work and have the benefit of broadband.
