Using a 2l zetec silver top, done loads of research but cant understand why i need to change the water pump, im sure its simple enough, What am i suposed to change it to?

Im sure its to do with the std 2.0l zetec pump turning the wrong way round for use in a locost or similar. It has been discussed before so a search should come up with something.

The serpentine belt turns the water pump in the opposite direction to the crank.

If you are not using all the ancilleries from the Mondeo then either a 1.8 water pump is required or a couple of idle wheels to turn the belt in the opposite direction.

IMHO not worth using idle wheels.

Dunnells do a replacement for the silvertop which rotates correctly so you don't need to rig up additonal pulleys .

Cost £48.50 +Vat part no : RMP1430

Won't fit blacktops tho B*^&%r

Why go to Dunnels. A standard Escort 1800 waterpump is what you need and the toothed pulley to go with it.
As has been said, the 2.0 pump runs off the back of the belt so goes the wrong way.

totally agree with Tango man, make sure you get the grooved water pump pulley as well and one for the altenator if needed.

Not sure what you are building but you may need to revise steering link set up as on an MK Indy the steering shaft fouls the oil filter

Oh no it dont...Just mount the engine over a bit and at a slight cant and the oil filter off the Mondeo will fit just nice. Rescued attachment 02620033.JPG

There are a couple of solutions to the blacktop issue...
a) fit an idler above the water pump
b) Source a Pump from Quicksilver in the US
