Carbs leaking - parts? ZX6F
bricheun - 22/1/07 at 07:46 AM

Just about to fit the carbs and manifold, when I thought about testing the carbs for leaks first..
Yes it leaks from the T-piece where the petrol goes in the carbs. Does anyone know where a repair kit can be found?

Kawasaki ZX6 Keihin 36mm CVK type.

And is it difficult to take all of it apart..seems quite a daughting task!

Thanks. Rescued attachment P1000661.JPG

Mine leaked when i first connected them up. Once the pressure got up and went away it stopped and hasnt leaked since.

So it is better to run them even if it leaks and hope it will stop leaking later?
I think the carbs have been sitting dry for quite a while and the O rings may have gone hard.

Just a thought. What pump are you using? Older bike carbs, by default, tend to use a gravity feed and do not like large fuel pressures. I had the same problem on my CBR1000 carbs and ended up using a bike fuel pump (Carb'd R1) which immediately solved the problem.

Thanks

I used a pump from a CBR600 F3 - eletric pump which stops pumping when it feels pressure. It leaks even when pressure is taken off. Kawasaki dealers said they have stopped these parts and no longer available.
Could I use some other O rings??... Rescued attachment leak.jpg
