I'm just changing my piping layout for the better and Micra rad for a Polo one.
Currently Pinto engined but want to make sure I'm setup so if I put a decent engine (summat with more cylinders and forced induction ) in
I'm well covered for that. Radiator is about 12" tall.
Not sure which after-market fan to go for.
Premier Wiring do a 10" or 12" for £45 or £50.
Rally Design do a very similar looking Pacet for £70
Demon Tweaks do Pacet for £96+vat or a Kenlowe for £195+vat.
Anybody know if the Premier is actually a Pacet? They certainly look very similar.
And what's so special about the Kenlowe? Is it just the curved blades that add to the price?
I'm tempted to just fit the cheap Premier Wiring one whilst I have the Pinto and upgrade if/when it's not man enough.... but I'd like
to know exactly what the gen is with these.
Thanks!
James

dunno; I've got a s/h 13 inch kenlowe - push type - I rckong the blad is reversibe as held with a circlip - make me an offer - has the ali
mounting brackets - you'll need to source the thermostat. I have to admit I don;t want to part with it but it has been removed - was working and
will test it - for about 4 yrs thinking I'll be able to use it but hasn't happened yet.
Juding from my various trips to scrap yard looking at fans, the only thing I cna tell is the kenlow/pacet are shallower, motor in particular than
those on factory cars.
factory cars are proven for huge mileages; i'd go for one of those, cheaper too, if you have the space. ford mondeo good source for 15 inch push
type; fit one if you have the space.
take a look at the robin hood one - off a honda I beleive - v. cheap, has cowl, seen on ebay for even less - I have one - seems to work very well
(only made 1 road journey so far but I am confident it is up to the job, 1300 crossflow cc mind )
take a look a VWP - they do pacets quite cheap.

Price.
Only Kenlowe can ask four times what everyone else wants and still make out is a bargain.
Want a fan, go to the scrappy and get any for a fiver…
James, the fan I'm using is from an 600 series Rover, I had to cut down the shroud to suit, but bloomin heck does it pull a gale !!
Good luck
Jason
Blackbird motorbike fan.... If they can cool the rad on a bike kicking out that many ponies, it should be okay on most Locosts with huge open
nosecones...
Not absolutely Locost (can't remember exactly how much I paid from a bike scrapper- between 25-35) but lightweight....
I have a 10" Spal fan on my polo rad. Seems to be ok at the moment. Paid about £10 for it from ebay, brand new too. Look in the section for
horseboxes, seem to be used for ventiation on them quite a bit
David
I've got a Kia Pride fan from ebay. £6 and its a perfect fit for the Tiger rad.
Just needs brackets now !
Cheers
Peter
Fan from Diesel escort - produces a veritable gale
Hi pacet curved type you wont get better.
cheers matt
Its got everything to do with noise. Kenlowe's fan has shaped blades so that they are more effecient in use. They are also a damn site quieter in use as well. Most production car fans when switched on make more noise than the engine when at idle. The kenlowe is noticeably quieter. I've run one on my Landrover for 10 years and its still going strong.
I used the air con. fan from my doner, works an absolute treat, if I could fit big enough batteries I could tow the car with it. Mind you has one draw back, had to use a thirty amp fuse, kept blowing twenty's, so hate to think how much juice it consumes. Ray
I picked up one at a show for about £15 it had curved blades like the pacet ones, but was unmarked.
Blows alot of air and doesnt have trouble keeping the pinto cool in summer traffic.
I never thought about the noise, but it is alot quieter than the tintop one.
As for longevity, the amount we use our cars and hopefully we drive them fast enough not to use the fan much, longevity probably doesnt matter so
much.
In case anyone's interested. I've done a bit of research on the Kenlowe and Pacet sites for their CFM figures:
Pacet use 0.15" static pressure and Kenlowe use either 0.1" or 0.2" so read a figure between the two....
Kenlowe:

Pacet:

Pacet Fan CFM
Some interesting differences!
I phoned Alan at Premier to get an idea on the figures for their fans. He only had figures for 16" and said it was 2900cfm. I wonder if he meant
1900cfm though as the difference is so great.
And it would also suggest that CFM is inversely proportional to price!
Anyway, the point is, looks like Pacet is the one I'm going for.
Thanks for the help everyone,
James
