Does this look ok for the location for my ali header tank for my blade engine?

Three large head rivets will hold it onto the engine cradle.

Pipe outlets will be forwards into the nose cone area.

How's it looking?

Oh, base will be 3mm ali and not cardboard as pictured.

The min water level needs to be higher than the highest point of the engine for obvious reasons.... As long as you satisfy that shouldnt be any problems.

That's roughly where my overflow/header tank is.

Tricky with side slanted engine...

Anyone know where the water level sits on a blade?

Just gonna run through the rain into the garage to have a look...

Hang on...

Here is the thermo:

And this is where the top of my header will be in relation to the thermo.

How are we looking?

DIY Si - 7/1/07 at 07:34 PM

I'd try to get a couple of inches above the top of the thermo if poss, just to be sure. I'd expect that to be the high point.
Must type faster. That looks ok, although, maybe an extra 1" or so to be on the very safe side?

Bugger, will have to source another tube as this was an offcut.

Maybe a thinner one?

Just mount what you have a little higher? I dont know the highest point on the blade engine, but would say that the thermostat is pretty close.

Can't think of a good way to raise it without making things look cluttered.

I like the look of the plate that will go on the bottom - nice and simple.

it'll be fine as it is in the pic

Avoneer - 7/1/07 at 09:51 PM

When i've welded a flat top on and then a 2" high neck with cap on top, I'll keep the water level just at the bottom of the narrower tube.

What if this is slightly lower than the stat?

NS Dev - 7/1/07 at 09:52 PM

dunno, but the top tube on mine from stat to tank is level and never can be quite full and that works fine.
