Header tank: from what?
Phil. S - 15/10/06 at 04:29 PM

Could someone tell me what my header tank was from originally, as this would make getting a new cap a LOT easier. (All the ones I've been shown are too big.) In case it helps, the inner diameter of the cap is 45mm.

Not sure but it looks like it could be from a Rover? Similar to the one on my car but not exactly the same

Thanks rusty nuts. Following up your clue I had a quick flick through ebay for pics of rover header tanks, and this one looks remarkably similar, though it's hard to be sure from the one angle. A 200 tomcat: isn't that the turbo charged 200?

It's more than likely a Rover item - quite commonly used as they're lower in profile so suit se7ens well.

Deffo an earlier rover 200/400. Just before the bubble shape 200's came out.

what's the story with the corrugated wings!!?? and have you been through SVA? If not, the wiring in the lst photo would do with being put inside a placstic tube.

The wings are vented to help reduce lift. Here's a couple of pictures that are clearer on that score.

The car's been through SVA, but that was 16 years ago! But tidying up the wiring is one of the jobs on my long list of things to do.

SVA kicked off in 97/98...

Ah. In that case, it's not been through SVA.
