lotus engine

got a mate with an lotus engine 2.0 with twin dellortos on ,the one they used to fit in old esprit exept bored to 2.2 i think? any one know which gearbox it would fit and how big a job it is to fit if at all poss??currently running vauxhall ohc 1.8 8v any help much apreciated and links to sites etc ,many thanks richard

I would suggest u speak to 907 (Paul).

Hes got a 907 lotus engine in his not so locost..

Nearly sure it's an early Supra gearbox.

Maybe but im sure i herd they changed to a different manufacturer for the excige and thats a toyota engine...

If its a 2.0L engine then its a 907 as used in the Jensen Healey as well. The JH used either a UK Chrysler 4spd or a Getrag 5spd. There are a couple JH folks converting to the Supra box though.

The 907 is an ealry version of the 912 that was fitted in the Esprits and more importantly the front engined, rear wheel drive Excel. The Excel used Mk1 toyota Supra running gear so this would be the easiest and most straightforward way to fit this engine in a locost.

Don't think it will be particularly easy though and there are much better engines out there these days.

The Elite and Eclat had the Getrag box I seem to recall.

thanks guys ,found out it is a 907 engine .
what sort of hp are these and as mentioned what other better engines are there ??? just fancied the older engine as to me fits in with what i want from a indy ??
