Cosworth injectors.
Dusty - 14/9/06 at 12:35 PM

I have yellow (0379/02 IW 025) and blue (1991/00 IW 044) cosworth injectors to fit to the zetec.

Does anyone know the specs for either of these. Flow rate at a specific bar pressure. Either could be used although the blues might be a little over the top but I can't rescale the fuel map unless I can find specs. Running out of injector time on the GSXR 750 ones.
TIA

don't they have the bosch part numbers on them? you can find tables full of bosch injectors with flow rates etc against part no on the web. I had some cossie/bosch greens and they had the relevant no's on and i just looked them up on the web, that's how i chose them inthe first place until i found the resistance was wrong for my ecu and i ended up flogging them on...

I've got yellow webers for mine. I was told on the RSOC (i think) they are 311cc but dont know the pressure. I'd quite like to know for sure for me megasquirt though. Maybe sierra owners club?

The blues (IW044) are 324cc/min, and I think that's at 3 bar (but not 100%). 311 sounds right for the yellows as well.

I ran a set of blues with a 3 bar FPR for a couple of years, I put the above numbers into MS and it ran fine with no tweaking of the Req_Fuel so at the very least they're close to the actual figure.

You shouldn't have to do any re-scaling of your VE table with a change of injectors, if you plug the new flow rate into the Req_Fuel calculation then the difference in flow will be compensated for in that value alone. Well, in theory that's what should happen, you'll find in reality that you'll need to do a bit of tuning to the VE table if your injector opening times aren't spot on. The settings that are in actual pulsewidth (e.g. cranking) will need re-doing, although you should get close just by scaling them by the difference in old/new flow rates IYSWIM

Running yellows on 2lt Zetec, 200+ bhp @ 3 bar fuel pressure & good manners at low revs.

Running Vectra GSi injectors currently as I got a mint set for a tenner.

Did start off with cossie blues, though, and car ran sweetly.

2litre blacktop with Gixxer bodies, by the way

running blue injectors @ 3 bar they are at 92% duty at 7250 rpm = 168bhp.

Ian what have you done to the engine to get 200+ bhp?????

92% duty doesn't sound right...the Escort they came out of was 200+bhp ...

That definitely doesn't sound right, mine never got above 72-75% to make the same power on a VW 16v. As has been said, they can happily supply enough for a 200hp turbo engine that will be running on the richer side...

Standard yellows (2wd) / dark blues (4x4) is 200-270bhp. 355s (light greens) 270-300bhp. 803s (dark greens) 300-385bhp. 400s (light blues) 370-430bhp. 403s (greys) 400-450bhp.

And from a less reputable site...

Colour Name / code Flow Rate
Yellow Standard for 2WD/3 Door 311cc / min
Dark Blue Standard on 4WD 325cc / min
Dark Green 803 382cc / min
Light Blue 400 437cc / min
Dark Grey 403 503cc / min

Consensus is yellows 311 and blues 325(4) @ 3 bar. Sound OK to go for the blues then. I'm expect around 200 bhp after the RR session on Tuesday but I should be OK to potter up to Donnington after I've altered the current map.

B****r. Just checked and they are low impedance 3.2 ohms. As my ECU expects 15ohm injectors, wired in parallel pairs and batch fires in pairs its gonna be expecting 7.5 ohms and its gonna get 1.6 ohms. Is the solution as simple as wiring a 6 ohm resistor in series with each pair of injectors?

92% duty cycle on blues should be 250ish bhp not 168. Something wrong there.

Yeah ballast resistors are fine. It is best to have a separate resistor per injector, running multiple injectors from a shared ballast resistor can lead to unreliable injector opening. Also bear in mind that there is a fair old current running through such a low resistance, so your ballast resistors need to be of a suitable power rating, and will get hot so need a heatsink. Some OEM installs have a ballast resistor pack for the injectors, don't know which ones though so you'll have to do some scrappy hunting unless someone else chirps up.
